Size: 2,505,810 km2 (967,243 mi2)

Located in northeastern Africa, Sudan is both the largest African and largest Arab nation. About half of the country can be used for agriculture. However, due to extensive warfare, along with excess hunting and soil erosion, much of the land has suffered the consequences. Sudan borders several nations, including the Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Egypt. It also lies in the Red Sea to the north east, but is otherwise bordered by land. The Nile flows through much of the country. Its largest cities include Omdurman, Khartoum and Port Sudan.

Kazakhstan is located in Asia, and is the largest landlocked nation. It has a very diverse territory, which ranges from flat lands, steppes, taigas, hills, snow capped mountains and deserts. Though a huge country, it is sparsely populated with only 16.4 million people. Its borders include Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. A large portion of the country is on the Caspian Sea. Its largest cities include Almaty, Karaganda and Chimkent.

Argentina is the largest Spanish-speaking country. Its borders include Paraguay, Bolivia, Brazil, Uruguay and Chile. The country lies in between the Andes mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. It has some of the tallest mountains in South America, like Cerro Aconcagua. The Andes region itself consists of grape vineyards, glacial mountains and the Lake District. Australia is located in the South Pacific Ocean of the Southern Hemisphere, and consists of the mainland, Tasmania and several other islands. It is considered the world’s largest island, depending on your definition of island. Brazil is the largest country in South America, taking up about half of the continent. It is the largest Portuguese speaking country, as well as the fifth most populous. It has a very long coastline along the Atlantic Ocean. Its borders include Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname and more. Its legal territory also encompasses several archipelagos. Much of its climate is tropical. The Amazon River flows through much of Brazil. Brazilian land is most famous for the Amazon Rainforest, which is extremely species-rich. The largest Brazilian cities are Sao Paulo, Rio de Janiero and Salvador.

China is the largest Asian country, and is the most populated country on earth, with about 1.3 billion people. It lies on the East China Sea, Korea Bay, Yellow Sea and South China Sea. It has almost every type of terrain, such as plains, deserts, mountains, steppes, plateaus and subtropical basins. The western part of the country is more vast and barren. Its climate ranges from subtropical to subarctic. China has one tenth of the world’s arable land, but it suffers from high rates of pollution. Though huge, has one of the lowest population densities in the world. The north is hardly uninhabited; it’s mostly just visited by scientists to survey the land. Canada has more lakes than any other country on earth. The inner parts of the country are prairies, that have very harsh, windy winters. In the central and northern parts of Canada, snow will cover the terrain for up to six months of the whole year. Canada also has many active volcanoes and earthquakes. Most of the population lives near the border of the continental US. Its largest cities include Toronto, Montreal and Calgary.

Russia is the biggest country in the world, by far! It is located in Europe and Asia, or Eurasia. In Europe, it borders many countries, including Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Belarus and Finland. In Asia, it borders countries like China, Mongolia and North Korea. Russia has one ninth of the world’s total area, and is the ninth most populous nation. The country goes through 11 different time zones. It also contains the largest reserves of mineral and energy resources, as well as 25% of the world’s unfrozen fresh water. Russia has 40 national parks and 101 nature reserves. Much of southern Russia is a steppe, and much of northern Russia is deep forest, and then there is a large tundra area if you go further north. Its mountain ranges include the Caucasus, Altai and Ural. Russia lies on the Arctic and Pacific oceans, as well as the Baltic Sea, Sea of Avov, and the Black and Caspian Seas. There are thousands of other rivers and bodies of water. The Volga flows through Russia, which is the largest river in Europe. The biggest Russian cities include Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Novosibirsk (Novosibirsk is located in Siberia).
