Most Expensive Prep School

Attending a prep school can give a teenager numerous advantages over their publically taught counterparts. They’ll have access to equipment and facilities that no public school can provide, they’ll be able to network with peers from influential families and they’ll be educated in a far more rigorous manner. These advantages can come with a hefty price tag, though.

The most expensive prep school in the US is Concord, Massachusetts’ Middlesex School. Founded in 1901 by Frederick Winsor, Middlesex started as a non-denominational, all-boys’ school. Additionally, Winsor’s scholarship program was a first for secondary schools. Combined, the non-denominational policy and scholarship program had the effect of drawing students from across the country to attend the school.

Most expensive prep school

The most expensive prep school emphasizes long and largely unchanged traditions, such as the carving of a plaque by every student in the graduating class. Traditions like this have been kept in place by the school’s headmaster, a position that has only been filled by five people since the school’s founding over a century ago.

Tuition at Middlesex School is $40,780 for boarders and $32,625 for day students. 108 of the school’s 346 students receive an average grant of $30,740 to attend the most expensive prep school in the US.
